I don't think American Girl changed the stamp on the neck from Pleasant Company to Mattel. I don't know why they haven't changed it.
My Elizabeth has PLEASANT COMPANY stamped on her neck!!! The last thing she is is Pleasant Company, lol. Actually all of my dolls say Pleasant Company, even though many of them are Mattel. How weird is that?

I believe some Nellie dolls were stamped American Girl instead of Pleasant Company. Maybe Kaya also. I thought it was strange that Marisol said Pleasant Company, but it's very weird that Elizabeth does too. American Girl is the one that has the copyright on her name.

The first run is Pleasant Company, then they all say American Girl. That is what they did with Nellie. I know that cause they told me.
Both of my girls have Pleasant Compay on their necks, and I got my Lissie in February this year. I like it that they are still saying that. Reminds you of the good ole' days. Pleasant Company sounds so much more old fashioned, and I like that. I don't mind the American Girl name, though.
ALL the new Josefina dolls have American Girl stamped on the back of the necks! We checked!!!

I find it weird, considering my Nellie doll was bought in late November/early December, and she's got Pleasant Company on her neck (along with a "7" and "LO"), I imagine they were in 2nd run by then? The first run is Pleasant Company, then they all say American Girl. The neck stamp was the first thing I checked when my DD's newest birthday doll, Josefina, arrived - she will be our first doll with American Girl on the neck rather than Pleasant Company (DD's birthday is on Monday - can't wait!). I admit that I would rather have had Pleasant Co. on there, but I knew it would happen eventually .ALL the new Josefina dolls have American Girl stamped on the back of the necks! My Nellie has American Girl on the back of her neck, but my Marisol (who is much more recent) does not. I think the Nellie's with "American Girl" on the backs of their necks had much rounder faces, and their freckles weren't as broad as the Pleasant Company Nellie's. I also think the American Girl Nellie's had their eyes fixed to stair straight instead of slightly sideways. Someone made a comparison album once.
